Terms and Conditions for FurFlex Therapy

Canine & Equine Sports Massage Therapy, Bodywork & Associated Treatments

Before booking a treatment for your dog or horse, please take a moment to review our essential terms and conditions.

1. Appointments & Booking

By booking an appointment with FurFlex Therapy, the owner/handler confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Appointments are subject to availability and will be confirmed by FurFlex Therapy.

Please provide as much notice as possible if an appointment needs to be cancelled or rearranged. FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to charge for late cancellations or missed appointments where appropriate.

If the animal is unwell, injured or has experienced a significant change in health since the appointment was booked, please contact FurFlex Therapy before the appointment.

2. Veterinary Consent & Animal Health

Sports massage and bodywork are complementary therapies and are not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis, treatment or advice.

The owner/handler is responsible for providing accurate and relevant information regarding the animal's health, medical history, injuries, medication and current treatment.

FurFlex Therapy must be informed of any known or suspected injury or acute pain, illness or infection, lameness or mobility issues, recent surgery or veterinary treatment, skin conditions or open wounds, neurological conditions, pregnancy, medication being administered, or any other condition that may affect the suitability of treatment.

Where appropriate, veterinary consent may be requested before treatment can take place.

FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to refuse, postpone, modify or discontinue treatment if it is considered inappropriate or potentially detrimental to the animal's welfare.

If an animal becomes unwell, distressed or shows signs of pain during a session, treatment may be stopped.

3. Preparation of Dogs

For canine appointments, owners/handlers are asked to ensure that their dog has been toileted before treatment, is clean and dry prior to the appointment, has not just consumed a large meal immediately before treatment, is wearing suitable equipment for safe handling where appropriate, and that any behavioural, handling or anxiety issues have been disclosed before treatment.

Please maintain the dog's normal routine as much as reasonably possible to minimise stress. Where possible, appointments should take into consideration the dog's normal feeding, exercise and rest routine.

Dogs should not attend if they have a contagious illness, diarrhoea, vomiting, unexplained lethargy or another condition that could pose a risk to themselves, the therapist or other animals.

4. Preparation of Horses

For equine appointments, owners/handlers are asked to ensure that horses are clean and free from excessive mud, dry before treatment, in a safe and suitable location for treatment, appropriately restrained/handled where necessary, and not immediately post-exercise unless this has been specifically discussed and agreed.

Horses should be allowed to follow their normal routine as much as reasonably possible to minimise stress. This includes maintaining normal feeding and turnout routines where practical.

Please provide a suitable, safe and reasonably clean area in which treatment can be carried out.

If weather or environmental conditions make treatment unsafe or unsuitable, the appointment may need to be rearranged.

5. Owner/Handler Responsibility

The owner or responsible handler must remain responsible for the animal during the appointment unless otherwise agreed.

Owners/handlers must disclose any known behavioural issues, aggression, anxiety, nervousness, previous biting/kicking, or other behaviour that could pose a safety risk.

FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to stop or refuse treatment if the animal presents an unacceptable risk to the safety of the animal, owner/handler or therapist.

The owner/handler remains responsible for the animal's care and welfare before, during and after treatment.

6. Treatment & Results

Every animal responds differently to massage and bodywork. While treatment may assist with relaxation, mobility, muscular comfort and general physical wellbeing, specific results cannot be guaranteed.

Treatment plans and techniques may be adapted according to the individual animal's presentation and response.

FurFlex Therapy will not knowingly diagnose veterinary conditions. Where a concern is identified that falls outside the scope of complementary therapy, the owner may be advised to seek veterinary assessment.

7. Aftercare

The owner/handler is responsible for following any aftercare or exercise recommendations provided following treatment.

Recommendations are intended to support the animal following treatment but do not replace veterinary advice.

If an animal develops concerning symptoms, significant pain, lameness, swelling or another unexpected change following treatment, veterinary advice should be sought where appropriate.

8. Payment

Payment can be made by cash, bank transfer (BACS), Stripe payment link, or contactless/card payment via Stripe.

Payment is due within 14 days of the date of treatment, unless an alternative payment arrangement has been agreed with FurFlex Therapy before treatment takes place.

Payment terms apply regardless of whether an invoice, payment link or other payment request has been issued.

Where payment has not been received within the agreed payment period, FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to contact the client to request payment and may decline to provide further treatment until the outstanding balance has been paid.

Repeated late or non-payment may result in future appointments being offered only on a payment-in-advance basis.

9. Outstanding Payments

Invoices/payment requests that remain unpaid after the agreed 14-day payment period will be considered overdue.

FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to contact the client regarding overdue balances and request immediate payment.

Where a client has an outstanding balance, further appointments may be postponed or declined until the account has been brought up to date.

Any alternative payment arrangement must be agreed directly with FurFlex Therapy and should not be assumed without confirmation.

10. Cancellation & Rearrangement

Please provide as much notice as possible if an appointment needs to be cancelled or rearranged.

FurFlex Therapy understands that circumstances can change and will consider cancellations on an individual basis.

Repeated cancellations, very late cancellations or missed appointments may result in a cancellation fee or a requirement for payment in advance before future appointments can be booked.

If FurFlex Therapy needs to cancel or rearrange an appointment due to illness, emergency, adverse weather, unsafe conditions or other circumstances outside of reasonable control, an alternative appointment will be offered where possible.

11. Safety

FurFlex Therapy will take reasonable precautions to ensure that treatments are carried out safely.

For equine appointments, the treatment environment must be reasonably safe, secure and suitable. The therapist reserves the right to refuse treatment where the environment is considered unsafe.

For canine appointments, the owner/handler must disclose any relevant behavioural or handling concerns before treatment.

FurFlex Therapy cannot accept responsibility for incidents resulting from information that has not been disclosed, unsafe environments, or the actions of an animal outside the therapist's reasonable control.

12. Children & Other People Present

Children and additional people may be present during an appointment at the owner's discretion, provided that their presence does not interfere with treatment or compromise the safety of the animal, therapist or others.

Children must be appropriately supervised by their parent/guardian or responsible adult at all times.

13. Personal Belongings & Property

The owner/handler remains responsible for their personal belongings, equipment, tack and other property brought to an appointment.

FurFlex Therapy accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property unless caused by negligence on the part of FurFlex Therapy.

14. Photos & Records

FurFlex Therapy may maintain treatment notes relating to each animal, including information regarding their presentation, treatment and response.

Photographs or videos may be taken during or after treatment for record-keeping purposes where appropriate.

Photographs or videos may be used for marketing or social media purposes.

15. Confidentiality & Data

Information provided by clients will be treated confidentially and handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.

Client and animal information will only be used where reasonably necessary for the provision and administration of services, communication, payment and record keeping, or where legally required.

16. Scope of Practice

FurFlex Therapy provides complementary sports massage, bodywork and associated therapies within the therapist's qualifications, training and scope of practice.

Treatments do not replace veterinary care, veterinary physiotherapy or other regulated professional services where these are required.

FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to refer an animal back to their veterinary surgeon or another appropriate professional where this is considered necessary.

17. Changes to Terms & Conditions

FurFlex Therapy reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions where necessary.

The current Terms & Conditions will apply to bookings made after any changes have been introduced.

18. Acceptance

By booking and/or attending an appointment with FurFlex Therapy, the owner/handler confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions and have provided accurate information regarding the animal's health and circumstances.
